Dharma Talks

(Continued from issue #308)

Lunchtime Instructional Talk by Dharma Master Heng Gwei on November 25, 2018,
at Gold Wheel Sagely Monastery Emperor Liang’s Jeweled Repentance Dharma Assembly

In this Dharma-Ending Age, it is a blessing to encounter such a wayplace of proper dharma and to meet bright-eye good advisors, both of which we have encountered. Although the Venerable Master has entered nirvana, his teachings remain.

I’ve heard some people say they felt scared after reading news reports. In fact, I have said this on several occasions – at Gold Wheel Monastery, at City of Dharma Realm and in Hong Kong, that this is only the beginning. If we treasure our lives but are not skilled at forming pure dharma affinities, or if we fail to be reborn in the Pureland, and instead we come back here in our next life, this world will become even more unthinkable. Hence, causes, conditions and retributions are very important.

We should stay at the Venerable Master’s wayplaces, study the Venerable Master’s Dharma, and nurture our dharma affinity with the Venerable Master to grow deeper life after life. We shouldn’t be clever in running around and seeking which good and wise advisor can help us with this or that. It would be great to know our past and our future. This is just a form of greed. However, greed is not what matters most in this situation. But rather, the main concern is that our dharma affinity with the Venerable Master would become extremely complicated.

Hence, when we plant causes and create affinities, we should keep it as simple and as pure as possible. We should be careful and sincere in doing so. The Venerable Master taught us this before and I still follow this practice today.
